Grand Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday said the BJP government is a champion in its election campaign, while his party and the government it leads are “zero” on that front because they “failed to publicize” their work and achievements. At the campaign level, Azad said, we were absolutely zero. Ghulam Nabi Azad is one of the leaders of the Group of 23 in Congress. These leaders raised their voices for a change in the party’s leadership. The Sibal Cable is also included in these leaders.
Taking the name of BJP leader and ex-Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, who was present on the podium, Azad said, “His government is a campaigning champion, but we haven’t campaigned… totally zero… That’s fine, I am his government.” I value myself. I blame myself, my government, and my party for not publishing what we did.
Azad was speaking at the ‘Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards 2021’ event in Nagpur. Azad said 42 years of working as an elected representative, and his tenure as Chief Minister of the then state of Jammu and Kashmir, and Union Health Minister, gave him the “satisfaction” of working. He said that during that period he started many innovations for people and applied many new ideas of luxury.
Azad noted that when he was appointed as Union Minister, he asked then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to allocate him the Ministry of Health. That’s why Singh said the ministry is too small for an experienced leader like him, he said. He said, “However, I was fortunate to have been appointed Minister of Health. I told the then Prime Minister that I wanted to do something for the country, to work in the health sector and implement my ideas.
