Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday sacked prominent party leader Kuldeep Bishnoi from all party posts for allegedly making a “cross-vote” in the Rajya Sabha elections of Haryana state. According to the Party Organizing Secretary General KC Venugopal, Sonia Gandhi has relieved Bishnoi of party responsibilities, including the Special Invite to the Congressional Action Committee, with immediate effect.

Sources say the Congress can also recommend the Haryana Assembly Chairman to revoke Bishnoi’s membership. BJP evades Congress

Counting paused for seven hours

Counting of votes began more than seven hours late due to allegations of violating election rules and the results were announced late at 2 pm. Returning officer RK Nandal said Panwar received 36 votes, while 23 votes went to Sharma’s account and 6.6 votes were transferred from BJP, bringing his total vote count to 29.6. In this close competition, McCain received 29 votes but lost because there was no second preference vote.
