A fitness coach who worked for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been accused of murdering a lecturer. Police believe a fitness instructor strangled 35-year-old university lecturer Gauri Achari to death because she denied having an affair. The accused Prakash Bidri is a well-known fitness trainer. He has worked on a contract with BCCI in the past. Pedri worked as a strength and conditioning coach at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Apart from this, he also does part-time modeling.
The deceased Achari was a lecturer at a government college in Kandola, about twenty-five kilometers from Panaji, the capital of Goa. His disappearance was first reported, after which police summoned 36-year-old fitness trainer Prakash Bidri for questioning. Pedri admitted that he strangled Achari and dumped his body in a secluded place in Old Goa.
North Goa Police Director Chupet Saxena said, “During the investigation, the accused admitted that he strangled the victim and dumped the body in a forest near Kadamba bypass road (between Panaji and Old Goa). The dead body was recovered and sent to the mortuary for protection.”
Police revealed that Pedri angrily confessed to killing Achari, as he refused to return to his relationship with Pedri. “(Pedre) admitted to having an affair with this woman and this woman was trying to get out of that relationship, but when he refused Pedri killed her,” the police officer said.
Acharya was reported missing on Thursday. The police then arrested Pedri and asked him what he was doing from where the woman was reported missing. “He was not able to justify his existence and eventually confessed to his crime,” Saxena said.
