After this defeat, the Mumbai Indians are now the first team to lose the most matches in a single IPL season. Earlier, Mumbai team did not lose many matches (9) in any one season of IPL. The Redskins lost five times earlier 8-8 in 2018, 2014, 2009 and 7-7 in 2021, 2016 and 2012.

Speaking of the match, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to run first and Kolkata scored 165 points in 20 points for a loss of 9 wickets. The goal of 166 passes for the Mumbai Indians looked great when wickets kept dropping at frequent intervals from the team. Jaspreet Bumrah’s five-and-a-half-century share of Ishaan Kishan did not work out in the team and the team had to face a crushing defeat by 52 throws.
Mumbai has the second lowest score against Kolkata. Earlier, the team compiled for 108 runs against Kolkata at Wankidi Stadium in 2012. This is only the second time in IPL history that Kolkata has defeated Mumbai in three consecutive matches.
