A Delhi court on Tuesday allowed Punjab police to take gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to Punjab for questioning in a case registered to investigate the murder of Punjab singer Seydu Musiwala. During the hearing, Punjab Attorney General Anmol Ratan Sidhu assured the court that the state would bear “full responsibility” for the gang’s security.

Earlier, Punjab Police had submitted two requests – one for arrest and one for temporary pre-trial detention. The court initially authorized the arrest and later in the evening ordered the physical detention under which the Punjab Police could now take Lawrence Bishnoi to Punjab. “Punjab police will have around 50 policemen, 2 bulletproof cars and 12 vehicles on the way to clear the road. All roads will be videotaped,” the Punjab government lawyer told the duty judge of Patiala House Court. Seydoux said orders issued by the Supreme Court in such cases will be followed.
