The Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Vav du Plessis, beat Chennai Super Kings by 13 times in the 49th match of IPL 2022. Along with Mahipal Lomror, Harshal Patel was instrumental in the RCB victory. While Lomror’s impressive 41 innings took the team to a score of 173, Harshal Patel took three wickets to restrict Chennai to 160 innings.
Chennai Super Kings is on the verge of exiting the race for the qualifiers after the defeat. Meanwhile, this is RCB’s first win after three consecutive losses and captain Faf du Plessis is not happy yet. Du Plessis said the team got off to a good start in powerplay while hitting, but then lost wickets that the team needed to avoid. He also said we need to play positive cricket.

De Plessis said: “Yes, after three defeats in a row, this win will definitely give us relief. It was a good start in powerplay with the bats. But then we lost wickets and we have to improve on that. We are not only thinking about net play rate at the moment but only about winning.

Looking at the points table after this win, the Gujarat Titans are first and second with 16 points and Lucknow Super Giants with 14 points respectively. Both teams could easily qualify for the playoffs. In such a case, there is stiff competition between Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals for the remaining two places. RR and RCB each have 12 points, while SRH and PBKS are lower with 10 points each.
