A young cricketer from Hyderabad in the southern province of Sindh attempted suicide after he was not selected in the host team of the Pakistan Interstate Cricket Championship (PCB). Fast shooter Shoaib cut his wrist and members of his family took him to the hospital in an emergency on Tuesday. A family member said that after tournament experiences, coach Shoaib did not choose the team and subsequently locked himself in the room due to depression.

One family member said: ‘We found him in the bathroom of our room and his wrist was slashed. He was unconscious and we immediately took him to hospital where he remains in critical condition. Earlier, in February 2018, U19 cricketer Mohamed Zarayab committed suicide by hanging himself at his home after being excluded from the Medina U19 team.
