Udaipur Kanhaiya Lal Murder: Internet will be shut down for 24 hours in the entire 144th district of Rajasthan.


After the brutal murder of a young man in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Chief Secretary Usha Sharma directed all department commissioners, inspector general of police and district collectors to take a special vigil across the state by holding a high-level meeting on Tuesday evening. In order to maintain law and order, the chief secretary ordered a shutdown of the internet for the next 24 hours across the state, enforced Section 144 in all counties for the following month, and banned gatherings of more than four people, police and administration. Instructions were given to cancel leave of all officers, organize peace committee meetings and impose curfews as per requirements in Udaipur district. He instructed all additional responsible generals of the police to be sent to the field.

High-level meeting chaired by the Secretary-General

The Chief Secretary has directed all department commissioners to stop spreading videos of Udaipur incident through mobile devices and other means. Besides, it must be ensured that action is taken against the people who are broadcasting the video as per the rules. He said that an appeal should be made to religious leaders to cooperate in maintaining communal harmony and peace. Additional Home Secretary Abhay Kumar said the situation should be monitored with utmost vigilance and sensitivity in all districts. All police and administration officers must ensure constant monitoring of law and order in their areas.

DGP ML Lather appeals to peace

Police Director General M. Instead, it directed the police and department officers to ensure special monitoring to maintain law and order in light of the Udaipur incident. Elements that disturb societal harmony must be closely monitored. In the next two days, besides the peace committee meeting, police station-wise meetings of the CLG should also be organized. He said that an adequate police force must be deployed to maintain law and order. If an additional strength was needed, then immediately after informing the higher level, the force should be summoned. He also directed to deal sternly with those who disturb social harmony. He said that strict action should be taken against those people who belong to any class, religion or sect. Director General of Police Intelligence Umesh Mishra gave instructions for effective intelligence in all districts.
