The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heavy to very heavy rain in many parts of Uttar Pradesh from July 20 to 23 on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy rain in Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Mathura, Agra, Bijnor, Muradabad, Rampur and adjacent areas since Wednesday morning. The Department of Meteorology uses four color codes to give weather warnings – green (regular), yellow (watch and stay updated), orange (be prepared) and red (take action).
According to the meteorological department, there is heavy rain in Banda, Chitrakot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Mirzapur, Chandoli, Varanasi, St. Ravi Das Nagar, Junpur, Ghazipur, Palia, Maharajang, Siddharth Nagar, Bahraish, Lakhimpur, Khairy, Varrukh Hardoi, .. probably. Apart from these, heavy rains may occur in Kannauj, Aligarh, Hathras, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Amroha, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur and adjacent areas during the next 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in various areas of UP on July 21. Apart from this, heavy rains have been forecast in different areas from 22nd to 23rd of July.
The Meteorological Department has asked people to prepare as rain may cause waterlogging in urban areas and flooding in low-lying areas. The Meteorological Department also expected landslides, traffic disruptions and power outages due to rain. The Meteorological Department forecast that the capital Lucknow will be overcast and thunderstorms are likely. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to be 38.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum 29.9 degrees Celsius.
